TUESDAY NIGHT FUNCTION – MEET ‘N’ GREET

The 2019 Ulysses Club National Rally is continuing with the tradition and having two official functions throughout Rally week. But the Tuesday Night Function will be with a twist!

We are holding this function on the Glen Abery Memorial Lawn area, and being summer, we are anticipating some beautiful evening weather. Instead of fancy dress, we are encouraging attendees to proudly wear their branch shirts or a Ulysses Club shirt and mingle with members from other branches.

Another twist, there is no charge to attend this function, but attendees will be able to purchase their own meal from one of the many food traders for the night. We will have bars running to provide alcohol service – a reminder that this area is within the NO BYO alcohol or food area.

Entertainment for the night will be provided by the ITCHY FINGERS ROCKABILLY BAND. This band genre is 50’s and 60’s Rock and Roll music.

We are encouraging registrants who are camping onsite, to bring along their chairs or picnic blankets to make this a very relax atmosphere. Don’t worry there will be seating available.

All we ask when registering is that you state whether you are attending the Tuesday night function.

Staying offsite – there will be bus service available to various points in the Mornington Peninsula. To use the bus service, you must have registered as part of your registration for the rally. The cost is $10.00 per person return.

SEEKING A LOAN OF A DEFIB MACHINE FOR 2019 National Rally
We are seeking to borrow a defibrillator machine for the duration of the 2019 National Rally at Mornington.
This would allow us to have a defib machine on the First Aid buggy which responds to calls throughout the Rally site, including the camp ground. We have access to two on-site defib machines, but they are not for mobile use in the camp ground.
If you or your Branch can access a DeFib machine to loan us for the Rally, please contact our First Aid Coordinator Alex McDonald amaca1@optusnet.com.au

FOR YOUR SAFETY - RECOMMENDED PHONE APPS
For those members who are owners of Smart Phones – the following Apps are recommended:

1. Emergency +
‘Emergency +’ is a national app developed by Australia's emergency services and their Government and industry partners, helping people to call the right number at the right time, anywhere in Australia. The app uses a mobile phone's GPS functionality so callers can provide emergency call-takers with their location information as determined by their smart phone. ‘Emergency+’ also includes SES and Police Assistance Line numbers as options, so non-emergency calls are made to the most appropriate number.
2. First Aid – Australian Red Cross
Simple. Free. It can save a life. The official Australian Red Cross First Aid app gives you instant access to the information you need to know to handle the most common first aid emergencies. Interactive and simple step-by-step advice means it’s never been easier to know first aid.

Developed for the Australian market as part of a global project by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent societies and Red Cross’ Global Disaster Preparedness Centre the APP features up to date CPR and First Aid guidelines as set out by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC).

Both Apps are available via Android Play or Apples Phone Apps stores and are free.

See you in summer for the 2019 National Rally.

About our Rides

From 1st of Aug 2018 new start location Rear carpark of Dome in Kelmscott.

Please review the Ride Calendar for Sunday ride start times, if a pre planned ride is not listed for that particular Sunday then the start time will be 9.00am for a decision on the day. Everybody is welcome. We are a very relaxed and friendly group at Armadale.

Below Suggestions for new riders, Also see Branch ride Guides in documents.

One of the biggest risk factors for those new to a group is feeling the need to keep up with faster riders. Stretching your comfort zone by trying to keep up may put you at risk. You should be able to ride near the speed limit (up to 100 -110kph on open roads) but there is no need to keep up if a gap is created; TEC (Tail End Charlie) will not overtake you and the corner markers will wait until TEC comes through, Don’t panic - resist the feeling of being pressured.

Above all, don’t speed trying to catch up!
