ULYSSES Club Inc. AGM Event 2018 Riverland South Australia

Welcome to the Riverland South Australia.

The Mallee Branch members look forward to hosting this annual event along with fellow Ulyssians from the Torrens Valley, Adelaide and Fleurieu Branches who have joined us as Co-Hosts to organise in true Ulyssian style the Riverland National AGM Event between 7th and 13th May 2018 inclusive.

The main event venue is locally known as the Riverland Field Days Site which boasts a fully fenced 12.5 hectares of green mown lawn ready to set up your tent and can cater for all forms of camping including RV’s and caravans, all on the one site. It is located centrally between the five major towns in the Riverland. They being; Waikerie, Loxton, Berri, Barmera, and Renmark which all front on to the mighty Murray River and are within easy striking distance from each other. Each town has its own distinctive attractions to showcase to the visitor with a unique mix of multi cultural heritage, art and culture, food and wine offerings. It is known as the food bowl of South Australia with its domestic and international trade of high quality produce including, grain crops, wine and table grapes, oranges, cherries, apples, stone fruits, and almond orchards and many other vegetables and fruits that grow in this highly productive area.

Located within easy reach of all Capital Cities and its central position will ensure that all participants have a great ride to and from the Event. The famous Barossa Valley and Clare Valley are ‘just down the road’ and the iconic Flinders Ranges are a day’s ride away – just two of the many attractions to savour either before or after attending our AGM Event.

The Riverland is a much loved holiday destination and features the Murray River and all the aquatic activities encompassed. There is so much to see within the Riverland itself from the remarkable sun rises and sunsets and wild life in their native environment. Want to go gliding, attend a classic speedway meeting, cruising in a 19th Century steam driven paddle wheeler, laze the days away on a houseboat or watch the famous 105 year old Humphrey Pump go into action? All this is ready for you in the Riverland?

The 2018 AGM Event Committee looks forward to meeting you and being your special hosts in May 2018.

About our Rides

We meet in the carpark opposite Maccas in Armadale. Please review the Ride Calendar for Sunday ride start times, if a ride is not listed for that particular Sunday then the start time will be 9.00am. Everybody is welcome. We are a very relaxed and friendly group at Armadale.

Below Suggestions for new riders, Also see Branch ride Guides in documents.

One of the biggest risk factors for those new to a group is feeling the need to keep up with faster riders. Stretching your comfort zone by trying to keep up will put you at risk. You must be able to ride near the speed limit (up to 100 -110kph on open roads) but there is no need to keep up if a gap is created; TEC (Tail End Charlie) will not overtake you and the corner markers will wait until TEC comes through, Don’t panic - resist the feeling of being pressured.

Above all, don’t speed trying to catch up!
